White Fillings

An Aesthetic Pleasing Alternative

White Fillings

An Aesthetic Pleasing Alternative

When you think of fillings you probably picture the unsightly traditional amalgam fillings with the silver colour.

At Cherryvalley Dental Care, you have the option of having white fillings put in place. We use composite bonding techniques to strengthen your tooth and protect it from further damage- which commonly happens with metal amalgam fillings

How We Put White Fillings In Place

Having a white filling placed is very similar to getting a traditional silver filling.

Your Cherryvalley Dental Care dentist will remove the decay from the tooth and reshape the area so it’s ready for the filling. Often we remove significantly less tooth than for traditional amalgam fillings. The white composite is then put in place, cured to set and then polished and smoothed for a natural look and feel.

FAQs

Are there any advantages to white fillings?

Along with being much less noticeable because of their colour, white fillings can be shaped and contoured to look more like your own teeth- and they often need lees tooth removed compared to traditional amalgam fillings. However, they do take slightly longer to be put in place properly, but the end result is a filling that’s better looking.

Does the treatment hurt?

Like many dental treatments there is a very small chance that you may feel some slight sensitivity after the filling has been put in place. However, most people have no discomfort whatsoever.

Are white fillings really less noticeable?

Yes! At Cherryvalley Dental Care we use composite materials of the highest quality that can be mixed to match the colour of your tooth. Our dentists also take the time to contour the filling so that its shape matches the teeth around it. When the treatment is complete, we believe the filling is practically invisible.
